Day 1: Welcome to the Northeast Kingdom
Arrive at the 250 acre Camp Wapanacki and settle in to the quietness of this 4-season camp in Vermont's Northeast Kingdom. There's a 25 acre private lake for swimming and paddling and miles of wooded trails. Hardwick provides groceries to prepare your own meals and we provide several area restaurant suggestions. Nearby is the Lamoille Valley Rail Trail for today's out and back loop from St. Johnsbury. (15-35 mile route options)
Day 2: Rural Beauty of the Lamoille Valley
Waking up to the serene setting of the camp, you may choose just to hang out and soak in the solitude all day. But we've planned a ride for another section of the Lamoille Valley Rail Trail with a covered bridge and river views. This ride also includes one of our favorite breweries, and takes you to Jeffersonville along the Lamoille River before looping back to Morrisville. Get back in time for a swim or paddle before dinner. (36 mile route)
Day 3: Cycling around Greensboro & Craftsbury
Willey's is a true general store (deli, hardware, clothing, gifts and so on) and combined with the quaint Craftsbury common they highlight today's hilly ride. This is rural Northeast Kingdom landscape at it's best. Voted 'best brewery in the world', Hill Farmstead is close by after your ride. (25 & 35 mile options)
Day 4: Touring Stowe
After checking out today, you'll stopover to cycle and explore Stowe. Before skiing came to this area in the 1930's tourists traveled to the rolling hills in the summer to escape the heat. Stowe has a tiny village center, packed with restored homes, shops and restaurants around a picture-perfect white church. Today's ride begins on a downtown bike path and loops around the area on country roads. After leaving Stowe on your way to Burlington you'll be tempted by a factory tour at Ben & Jerry's ice cream. (30 mile route)
Day 5: Burlington's beautiful Lake Champlain shoreline
Located in downtown Burlington near the shores of Lake Champlain, the Hotel Vermont will be your home for the next two days. Before today's cycling we recommend a short walk around the area to get a taste of why this three-college city is often called one of the most livable places in the United States. To further help you appreciate the area today's cycling route will take you along Burlington's Bike Path featuring shoreline, city land used to grow food and the University of Vermont campus. (25-35 mile route)
Day 6: Farmland from Shelburne to Vergennes
Before heading home, enjoy more quiet roads on a loop ride from Shelburne to Vergennes. This area is one of the most popular Vermont country loops with views of the Adirondacks along twisting rural roads. If time permits, the Shelburne Museum and Shelburne Farms are worthy of a visit. (35 mile route)
